Shailla Vaidya MD MPH CCFP(EM) is a Canadian physician with a background in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice, who also holds a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University. Dr. Vaidya has also undergone extensive training in Yoga Therapy, Mindfulness, Compassion and Trauma-Informed Therapy. She combines her knowledge, skills and experience in her practice in her Mind-Body medicine practice in Toronto with a particular focus on burnout in Helping Professionals and Concussion. She is also faculty on the Svastha Yoga Therapy Program with the Mohans.
Shailla's medical practice is focused on helping healthcare professionals and caregivers recover from the mental and physical manifestations of chronic stress, using yoga as the main therapeutic intervention. She has also written and run a therapeutic yoga program, called the Yoga of Stress Resilience, based on her own recovery from burnout; encompassing the process of yoga, the science of human function and the power of self-compassion to help frontline professionals recover from stress and burnout. Shailla has run this course for the past five years working with doctors, nurses, social workers, paramedics, allied health and even members of clergy. She also frequently presents on the topic of stress and the benefits of yoga to her colleagues, residents, and medical students across Canada.
